2025 Heart of Gold Award Winners
Jackie Whittle, Operations and Flow Supervisor
Jackie truly and consistently demonstrates exceptional care. She is dedicated to all the patients in the Cardiac Center and her colleagues at CHOP. Her energy is contagious, and she instantly uplifts everyone around her. The Cardiac Center would fall apart without her dedication and organization to patient flow, making sure patients get the procedures they need scheduled, new admissions can come in and patients can leave the ICU. Jackie consistently goes above and beyond, and I think she deserves to be this year's award winner!
Jessica Eichner, Nurse Practitioner
Jess has put her whole heart into improving the care for our heart failure patient population. She has been a key role in the development of the program within the ICU and streamlining our processes and guidelines. She is a fierce advocate for her patients and families and continues to go above and beyond despite the challenging situations and everyday stressors. Jess also regularly educates her peers, ensuring shared knowledge and quality care for her patients. Jess has a true heart of gold and should be considered for this award!
Natalie Bernard, Nurse Manager
Natalie is the best. Her steady leadership as nurse manager has provided stability and she has developed a new generation of cardiac nurses while ensuring that the CCU remains an exceptional care unit.
Jack Rychik, MD, Director of the Fetal Heart Program and the Fontan FORWARD Program
Dr. Rychik was incredible during my pregnancy and has been caring for my daughter ever since. He was patient and informative and helped us through a high-stress situation.
Kimberly Fehr, Respiratory Therapist
Kim is an expert respiratory therapist caring for our sickest patients in the CICU. She is a sought-after resource on night shift by all of her colleagues, including the CICU attendings. She is always professional, calm, kind, and ready to lend a hand with a big smile on her face. I am always happy to see that Kim is working as I know that we can handle whatever lies ahead that night!
